South Ayrshire Council has launched a training scheme to help educate private landlords on a number of key topics in the sector.

The course is being developed in partnership with Landlord Accreditation Scotland (LAS) and advises landlords on best practice, including making sure tenants live in safe and fit for purpose accommodation.

The first session was attended by over 20 landlords and the next event is scheduled for Thursday, 06 October in Prestwick.

Speaking on the event, one landlord said: "Very informative, especially housing bill updates and information on the training that is available for landlords. Length and content of the presentations was very good."

Cllr Philip Saxton added: "I would encourage all private landlords with property in South Ayrshire to work toward becoming accredited and these training courses are an important step toward this goal.

"Becoming an accredited landlord or letting agent demonstrates you are committed to providing a service beyond the minimum legal requirements. Accreditation is a visible sign of quality which is sure to appeal to anyone looking for accommodation."
