Planning consultancy Clarendon has lodged plans to build 1,200 new homes in the city boundary of Edinburgh.

The Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) submission will initiate discussion with the council. Scoping design and technical studies are being commissioned to determine the likely scale.

Proposals involve building the village development on land west of the city at Hatton Mains, which will include a local neighbourhood centre, primary school, open space/park with associated landscaping, roads and infrastructure.

In a statement, Clarendon said: "Hatton Mains offers the potential for a stand-alone new village which can ease pressure on existing urban areas within Edinburgh, whilst linking in with high quality public transport options and employment centres in West Edinburgh."
