Robertson To Deliver New Housing With Stirling Council

Construction News Image
Robertson Group is set to build over 400 new homes as part of a regeneration project in Stirling.

A partnership proposal between the council and the company was recently approved at a meeting of the local authority's Community Planning and Regeneration Committee.

The deal aims to deliver between 400 – 543 new properties across five sites in Raploch (Gowanhill Gardens, Craigforth Crescent, Raploch Road, Kildean and Drip Road) by 2020.

Out of the housing stock, at least 160 units will be made available for 'affordable' rent, 100 units for mid-market rent, 40 for private rental and 100 for market sale.

Around 60 homes will be developed through a £5 million 'affordable' housing investment from the Falkirk Pension Fund, to be managed by CastleRock Edinvar Housing Association.

Council Leader Johanna Boyd said: "The partnership between Stirling Council and Robertson Group Ltd. has risen from Stirling's City Commission - an advisory board which will help guide Stirling's choices in infrastructure investment, business development, connectivity and other high impact projects.

"This new housing in Raploch will support the City Development Framework – a programme to position Stirling as an economic and cultural powerhouse - as housing plays an essential role in promoting economic growth and social justice."

Cllr Corrie McChord added: "By approving this partnership proposal to increase the amount and variety of housing in Raploch we are continuing our commitment to the regeneration of the area."

Robertson has undertaken an outline feasibility study which established an affordable proposal can deliver the housing and also generate an income stream for the Raploch URC for the duration of the construction period.
