Balfour Beatty has began building a new £47 million secondary school in Aberdeen.

The new four-storey building will accommodate 1,350 pupils and will replace the existing Kincorth Academy and Torry Academy.

Designed by JM Architects, features of the project includes small learning spaces throughout for pupils with additional support needs, as well as a dance studio, fitness suite, games hall, six lane 25metre swimming pool, environmental gardens, grass and 3G pitches.

Community facilities for leisure and recreation purposes will also be developed. The project is due to be completed by mid-June 2018.

Cllr Anglea Taylor said: "The building of a new £47million south of the city academy shows this Council's commitment to deliver the best possible educational and community environments for its residents in Torry, Kincorth, Nigg and Cove."
