Planning permission has been granted to expand a hotel in Edinburgh.

UK budget hotel operator Sleeperz Hotels plans to extend its Cityroomz Edinburgh hotel with a new wing on Princes Street.

Proposals to develop Princes House have now been approved and the development will contain 43 new rooms and suites when completed.

Glasgow-based architects Maith Design have been selected to design the project, which will be open by June 2017.

The area is the cultural heart of Edinburgh, with its World Heritage Site, theatres, arts venues and stunning architecture.

"Cityroomz increased bed-stock is a welcome boost and provides affordable accommodation for tourists staying in this vibrant area."
