The latest phase of the £288 million Glasgow Subway modernisation programme has been revealed by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT).
The work involves a full replacement of the section in the tunnels known as "ramps and turnouts".
It connects the surface depot at Broomloan with the tunnels and was installed almost 40 years ago. The replacement work will ensure a reliable Subway service for future operation.
As a result of the project, train services will be suspended for around four weeks from Saturday, 02 July.
SPT Chairman Jonathan Findlay said: "To date, SPT has achieved all of the modernisation works without any disruption to passenger service which is a considerable achievement.
"We have now reached a crucial stage in the modernisation plan that requires us – for reasons of safety for everyone involved – to suspend services for a short time during July."
