Residents in Dundee are being invited to comment on proposed flood protection measures for the city.

It is understood the council intends to carry out work between City Quay and Dundee Airport, subject to funding.

Proposed works include:

• Adapting the height of the existing sea wall and infrastructure

• Developing new setback walls and install floodgates to allow access for maintenance along City Quay from Camperdown Dock gate to Tay Road Bridge

• Adapting the existing infrastructure, develop new setback walls and install floodgates to allow access for maintenance along Riverside Drive from Discovery Point to Bridge View Station Building

• Developing new set back flood defence walls and install flood gates to allow access for maintenance between Bridge View Station Building and Dundee Airport.

Will Dawson, Convener of Dundee Council's City Development Committee, said: "These works, which could include raising the height of the existing sea wall and installing flood gates, are designed to reduce the risk of flooding to residential, community and business properties as well as open space.

"Anyone who objects to the plans, which are on display in Dundee House, can do so in writing and once the consultation is complete we will bring forward more details."
