A request to call-in plans for a £140 million film and television studio project in Midlothian has been rejected by the Scottish Government.
The proposals have been brought forward by PSL Land.
It is understood the developer urged Scottish Ministers to call-in the plans after Midlothian Council delayed its decision on the scheme.
The request was sent to Cabinet Secretary Alex Neil.
However, the bid was rejected after Ministers said they would only call-in proposals if they "raised issues of genuine national interest."
In a letter to the developers, the Local Government and Communities Directorate, Planning and Architecture Division said: "Having considered the information available for this proposal and while noting the major potential of the proposal and the intended delivery of an energy centre and film studio for Scotland; Ministers do not propose to call-in the application at this time."
It is understood the decision is being appealed.
