A new secondary school being developed in Fife will be named Levenmouth Academy.

The name was chosen following a consultation with current and future pupils.

The school is part of the council's Building Fife’s Future £200 million plus programme.

The building will benefit from the use of natural light, open space and flexible learning areas.

Natural ventilation and lighting will also be used where possible in order to reduce reliance on mechanical solutions.

High frequency and LED lighting along with a biomass boiler will be used as the primary heat source to minimise running costs.

Other features includes a multi-use games court, along with permeable surfaces that drain to attenuation.

A SUDS pond will reduce impact on sewer systems in the vicinity.

Councillor Bryan Poole said: "This new campus in Levenmouth will include not only a new High School but a new and significant Fife College facility."

The new school will accommodate 1800 pupils and is expected to open in August 2016.
