Architects Lawrence McPherson Associates (LMA) has been granted planning consent for a golf course refurbishment.
The Ailsa Course at the Trump Turnberry golf resort in South Ayrshire will include a newly created par-three ninth hole.
The Turnberry Lighthouse will also be renovated to become a new halfway house for golfers.
Alterations to the course have been given the go ahead by planning chiefs at the council.
Changes are also planned for the par-five tenth hole and a new siting of the green at the 11th.
A new hole will be built at the 14th, creating space for a shortened 17th and renovated 18th.
Work has been scheduled to begin in September with an estimated opening time of June next year.
