Former Health Centre To Be Knocked Down

A former health centre is to be demolished in Moray making way for new housing.

The council has confirmed the purchase of the Forres centre site from NHS Grampian with the help of funding from the Scottish Government.

The building will be demolished within nine months.

Preparations are now being made for the submission of a planning application to develop the site for 12 one bedroom flats along with on-site car parking.

Subject to funding, development could start this year.

Councillor Eric McGillivray said: "I am delighted we have managed to acquire this prime site for housing close to the town centre.

"The council has added more than 300 new homes to its housing stock over the past few years and this latest acquisition of a site for further housing development is very welcome."
