Plans to pedestrianise a road in Alford, Aberdeenshire, under plans for a new £37m community campus in the area are to be put to public consultation.
It has been said that the proposals to close the road to traffic would be in the interest of public safety.
The proposals would see vehicles prohibited from using a section of the Greystone Road, which runs adjacent to the new campus. It would pedestrianised at the entrance of the campus, but remain accessible to cyclists, while access to David Maclean Drive and Alford Ski Centre car park would be maintained.
If the plans are approved, motorists would have to access the campus via a new link road constructed off the A944.
The consultation will take place on Wednesday 25 February at Alford Community Centre Lounge from 2pm to 4pm and again from 6pm to 8pm. Council officers will be in attendance and the local community are encourage to attend to view and comment on the plans.
