Homes and businesses located close to the Glenchamber Wind Farm in Dumfries and Galloway are set to receive discount on their electricity bills.
RES Energy confirmed that those eligible would receive an annual discount of £200 on their bills under the company's Local Electricity Discount Scheme (LEDS).
LEDS is offered in addition to a community benefit fund and forms part of RES' £5,000 per megawatt community benefit package. As a result, this could see the local community benefit from some £3.4m during the lifetime of the project.
Construction of the Glenchamber Wind Farm is currently underway, and is expected to be completed in late 2016. It is understood payments will begin once the development is operational.
Rachel Anderson, Communications Manager, RES, said: "LEDS is an exciting new initiative which will see nearly 350 properties within 6.5 kilometres of the turbines qualify for the annual discount of £200 on their electricity bill, every year for the operational lifetime of the wind farm."
