Former Tourist Site To Be Put On Sale

A former tourist site in Aberdeenshire is to go on sale, it has been announced.

The site, Archaeolink, located at Oyne, near Insch, opened in 1997 as a museum facility and remained so until its closure in 2011.

In June 2013, the council-owned site was declared surplus to requirements and investigations into future options for the land were investigated. Following a meeting of the Garioch Area Committee yesterday (13 January), it was agreed that the site should now be placed for sale on the open market. Further details regarding the sale will be made available in due course.

Councillor Fergus Hood, Chair of Garioch Area Committee, commented: "Archaeolink has served its use as a tourist facility and, having considered a range of options since its closure, it is felt offering the site for sale is the most sensible way forward.

"As well as the museum structure itself, the site boasts a substantial amount of open space and we hope it will attract significant interest."
