Plans to create a new mixed-use development in Glasgow's Merchant City have been released.
According to Urban Realm, the proposals would include 500 homes, a 120-bed hotel, 500 student rooms, and retail outlets. It would be located in the city, surrounded by Hutcheson Street, Trongate, Candleriggs and Wilson Street.
Richard Murphy Architects has been appointed by Candleriggs Ltd, a 50/50 venture by Mace and Mercer Real Estate, to design the scheme for the area.
Candleriggs Quarter is located on a central square area, around half an international-size football pitch, which will be surrounded by cafés and bars, boutiques and a hotel.
It is thought the square will also help to link a number of the city's key routes.
A formal planning application for the development will be submitted to the local authority in December.
