East Renfrewshire Council has said the swimming pools at Eastwood Park Leisure have been forced to close to allow essential repairs to be carried out.

Repairs are needed at both the main pool, and the small pools, in order to address ongoing technical issues.

In a statement, the Council has said it expects the main pool to re-open at the end of next week, but the small pools are likely to remain closed for a further two weeks.


A spokeswoman for East Renfrewshire Council said: "We are making strenuous efforts to return the pools to normal as quickly as we can.

"We appreciate how frustrating the recent repeated closures have been for people who use Eastwood Park Leisure.

"The council is working closely with specialists on this to find a lasting answer and get these popular pools open again.

"We apologies to customers for the inconvenience over the past few weeks and thank everyone for their patience."

It is understood that routine tests of water quality have provided readings that are higher than normal. There is no risk to health, the local authority has stressed, but said the readings are higher than the limit allowed for public swimming.
