Construction work is to start on a £5.2m transport interchange in Galashiels, it has been revealed.
The work is part of the Borders to Edinburgh railway project.
The scheme is being delivered by Hub South East Scotland, the Scottish Border Council's development partner, and contractor Morrison Construction.
The facility, when complete, will help to connect the railway with a new bus station as well as pedestrian access to the town centre. It is anticipated that the rail link – between Edinburgh and Tweedbank in the Scottish Borders – will reopen in 2015.
