The improvement work will help to enhance the quality of the water delivered to customers.
The project, costing £530,000, is due to commence around 1 May 2014 and continue for five weeks. A significant amount of the work will take place on Union Street and its junction with Almada Street, while work will also be carried out on Hope Street, Park Road and Orchard Street.

No road closures are expected, but Scottish Water has said some traffic managements measures will be in place.
Bill Elliot, Community Team Manager for South Lanarkshire, said: "Our customers are enjoying drinking water quality at its highest ever level. To maintain these high standards and continue meeting customer expectations it is important that we deliver investment to maintain our work.
"Relining pipes in this way is a cost efficient method of refurbishing pipes which still have a long life in them.
"Work of this nature often requires excavations to access the water mains, requiring local traffic management as appropriate. We do all we can to keep this to a minimum and have been liaising closely with our contractor and South Lanarkshire Council to ensure this work is carried out with the least amount of disruption and at the most suitable time."
