Plans for a new holiday village to be built in Sotherness, in Dumfries and Galloway, are to be advised for approval.

According to the BBC, the development would include 125 homes, a range of leisure facilities and a nine-hole golf course.

Those behind the project have earmarked potential land between Loaningfoot and Gillfoot Farm Road, it is understood. In its submission, the developers want approval in principle for the leisure village which would host a café, bowling green, driving range, putting green and tennis courts.

The scheme has raised objections from two local communities who are concerned about the size of the development and its resulting impact on the area, but planning officers are advising the plans are approved with conditions attached.
