An event to update residents on the Inveraray Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) is to be held next week.

The CARS project aims to invest around £2m in regenerating the town to make it a better place to live, work and visit. In addition to repairing some of the older buildings in the town centre, the project will also provide some skills training opportunities.

To date, the project has benefitted from £1m of funding from Historic Scotland, as well as investment from Argyll and Bute Council and a number of partners.

Policy Lead for Special Projects, Councillor Ellen Morton said: "While the Inveraray regeneration project has taken a while to get off the ground, we are now confident of moving it along and delivering real change on the ground for the people of Inveraray and the surrounding area.

"I would encourage people to come along to the event and see for themselves the exciting plans for the future.

"Along with Argyll and Bute Council's CHORD and TIF projects, this shows once again that the council is committed to regeneration projects across the county.

"Argyll and Bute is an ambitious council with big regeneration plans and we look forward to delivering success."

The event will be held at the Nichol Hall (Wee Hall) in Inveraray from 2pm to 7pm on Tuesday 17 December.
