East Dunbartonshire Council has said it is to continue with plans to deliver a range of new affordable homes.
The housing will be delivered over the next four years and will include homes for rent as well as a number of shared equity properties.
The local authority has a total budget of £9.45m and plans to build a range of affordable homes in Bearsden, Bishopbriggs, Kirkintilloch, Milnagavie, Milton of Campsie and Torrance. The proposals will now move onto the next stage where the Council intents to appoint a Design Team to carry out viability studies into each of the proposed sites.
Councillor Ashay Ghai, depute leader of the Council and Convener of Neighbourhood Services, explained: "This is a major step forward in our ambitions to develop a range of affordable housing in East Dunbartonshire.
"Given the average cost of housing in the area, and the lack of availability of affordable homes it is particularly important that we, as a Council, do what we can. By developing a range of housing options, we can give future generations the opportunity of living in this area. This is an exciting project for the Council and I look forward to helping to make these plans a reality."
