A £3.6m road improvement scheme at Chapel Level, Kirkcaldy, is nearing completion.
The year-long contract has involved replacing two traffic-signalled junctions with a new roundabout, while also realigning Henry Road and the dualling of the single carriageway west of Hendry Road.
With the major work now completed, project contractor RJ McLeod will now commission the installation of new traffic lights and pedestrian crossings.
Derek Crowe, Senior Manager for Roads & Engineering, said: "This has been a challenging project to deliver. Chapel Level is a busy section of road which remained open throughout the construction works. Part of the new section of road also lies above some old coal mining seams which we had to in-fill with over 3,000 tonnes of specialist material. Despite these challenges, this project has been completed both on time and on budget - a great success.
"The new layout and signals will greatly improve traffic flow in this part of town and will provide a much better connection between the A92 and Victoria Hospital."
The remaining remedial tasks required to complete the project will be carried out within the next few weeks.
