Students from Edinburgh College have completed work placements at several high-profile developments, providing them with vital construction experience.
Ian Leslie, Shaun Mason, Nicholas Stanfield and Antony Raccio, who are completing an HND course in Architectural Technology and Construction Management, carried out their placements with the Infrastructure, Supports Services and Construction Group, Robertson.
The developments included:
* a £2.1m refurbishment of the Methodist Church on Nicholson Square
* a £1m refurbishment of McClure and Naismith's offices on Ponton Street
* a state-of-the-art £9m West Linton Primary School
During the course of the placement, each student gained three accredited training courses including Basic First Aid, Health and Safety Awareness and Fire Safety.
They also learned about design, construction challenges, environmental considerations and career opportunities.
Emma Lyon, Lecturer in Engineering and Built Environment at Edinburgh College, said: "The Robertson work experience programme was a great opportunity for our students. They thoroughly enjoyed working at ‘real-life’ projects and speaking to staff about the realities of working in the industry and future career prospects."
