Move To Maximise Enterprise Potential

Irvine Bay Regeneration Company is to move office to its flagship national project in Irvine, the i3 Irvine Innovation and Industry business park, so that it can maximise the potential of the newly established Irvine Enterprise Area.

The Enterprise Area was announced last year by the Scottish Government, and is focused on land around the GlaxoSmithKline plant, parts of i3 (Irvine Industry and Innovation) business park and Annickbank Innovation Campus.

The Enterprise Area is seen as a huge opportunity for the whole Irvine Bay area in attracting investment and creating jobs and prosperity. The regeneration company, working with North Ayrshire Council and the Scottish Government, has a key role to play in developing and promoting the EA.

Patrick Wiggins, Chief Executive of Irvine Bay Regeneration Company, said: "While we are a small office, with a small number of staff, it is important that we are located close to the heart of our key project in Irvine Enterprise Area so that we can make the most of this opportunity for the whole area in terms of attracting investment and creating jobs. We need to ensure we can maximise the potential it offers over the next few years.

"The announcement of an additional £ 5.2 million of extra Government funding secured by Irvine Bay for construction projects will help us take a significant step in delivering our regeneration ambition across Irvine Bay – with the biggest beneficiary project being the creation of a new state-of-the-art medical centre for Ardrossan in the derelict former police station near the entrance to the ferry port.

'This project received an additional £2.5 million in funding and will help the regeneration company meet a long-held aspiration of the local community as well as finding new life for a listed building."

In addition this funding will allow work to start on the Annickbank Innovation Campus phase 1 offices in the Enterprise Area and the completion of phase 2 of our industrial workshop development at Ailsa Road Irvine.

The company is moving from its office in Ardrossan to i3, Irvine at the end of February.
