The Stirling and Clackmannanshire councils are encouraging community groups across the two areas to apply for support from the Environmental Trust.

The deadline for next round of applications to be considered will be Friday 2 March, 2013.

Stiling Council says the Environment Trust is "keen to support more local groups to implement projects that improve the environment or provide a benefit to both the local community and the general public".

Previous projects which have benefited from the Trust have included improvements to play areas, community halls, historic and religious buildings, local woodlands and the conservation of local, native biodiversity.

Currently the Trust has two funding programs.

The first is a small grants scheme for projects costing a total of £5,000 or less.

Applications for this scheme are considered throughout the year on a rolling program and could be liable for awards of up to £2500.

For larger projects the Trust will only consider applications at one of three scheduled meetings.

The deadline for the next meeting is Friday 2 March.

The Trust manages landfill community fund credits raised through the landfilling of municipal waste from both Stirling and Clackmannanshire Councils.
