The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Scotland (RICS) is encouraging property professionals across Scotland to enter its annual awards ceremony in 2013.

The RICS Scotland Awards 2013 will take place on 9 May, with judging taking place during the preceding months. The deadline for entry is 18 January 2013.

The awards reward inspirational initiatives and developments in the land, property, construction and environment sectors in eight categories: Building Conservation, Regeneration, Infrastructure, Community Benefit, Commercial, Design and Innovation, Residential, Tourism and Leisure.

A Project of the Year accolade is also awarded to the scheme judged to have scored the highest across all areas.

Last year's winner was The Centre for the Scottish War Blinded; a new build, single storey day care centre for ex service personnel on the outskirts of Edinburgh.

The Centre received the accolade for quality of design, use of visual contrast, curving geometry and energy efficiency measures, including natural ventilation and a ground source heat pump.

Director of RICS Scotland, Sarah Speirs, said: "The standard of entries to the RICS Scotland Awards continues to grow, making the judging process ever harder. Entry forms are now available and they are not just for those in the industry, anyone can make a nomination."

"The awards attract a diverse range of entries every year. It’s always good to see projects of all sizes, types and budgets entered, as entries are judged on specific criteria, which includes design, delivery, value for money and sustainability."
