McTaggart Announces Partnership For Renfrewshire Housing

McTaggart Construction has announced a new partnership with Hanover (Scotland) Housing Association to develop 16 amenity units in East Renfrewshire.

The £1.9m development will create housing for older people and is being undertaken in partnership with East Renfrewshire Council.

Work started in August of this year and is expected to be completed by July 2013.

MSP Stewart Maxwell visited the site at Fenwick Road, Giffnock.

He said: "I’m delighted to be able to attend this start-of-work ceremony which will provide much needed, high quality housing for the older people of Giffnock and will no doubt make a valuable contribution to the local community.

"This is another example of successful partnership working between a local authority and housing provider, and I look forward to seeing the site completed."

Bunty Fowler, Hanover’s chairperson, added: "I am delighted to welcome everyone to our sixth project in East Renfrewshire, where we will mark the start of construction of our new amenity housing development.

"I’d specifically like to thank our colleagues at East Renfrewshire Council, where our continued successful working partnership has resulted in the commencement of yet another high quality development for the older people of the area. We look forward to seeing these latest energy-efficient properties completed and filled."

Gary Climson from McTaggart said: "We are extremely pleased to have won this project with Hanover in Giffnock and delighted to be building on the long standing relationship we have with them."

The houses at Fenwick Road will meet the requirements of the 2010 Building Regulations and exceed them for energy efficiency, with solar thermal water heating incorporated into the design, according to McTaggart.

The design is HFVN compliant (Housing for Varying Needs) and will be eligible for Secured by Design accreditation.
