The speech was delivered at Base Glasgow (Business and Sustainable Environment).

The global low carbon market is expected to hit £4 trillion by 2016.

Glasgow has said it will aim to cut carbon emissions by 30% under the Sustainable Glasgow initiative.

Its aim is to become one of Europe's most sustainable cities within a decade.

Ken Livingstone said: "The event today will hopefully inspire more companies to adopt a green agenda, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but also because it makes good business sense.

"I believe that Glasgow can learn some of the lessons from London. The Olympics have left a lasting legacy for London and Glasgow will get its own opportunity for renewal with the Commonwealth Games in 2014."

The event included public sector policy makers and those within the private sector responsible for building and funding the low-carbon transformation.
