North Lanarkshire Draft Local Plan On Public View

A draft local plan for North Lanarkshire is on public view, following a consultation exercise.

Last month the council rubber-stamped changes to the plan following a formal examination by the Scottish Government Reporters.

These changes have now been made and the plan has been submitted to Scottish Ministers for their final agreement. When this is provided, the plan will be formally adopted and will become planning policy for the authority.

Members of the public can view copies of the Finalised Draft North Lanarkshire Local Plan here and in local libraries and key council offices - that is the Civic Centre at Motherwell, Kildonan Street in Coatbridge, and the environmental services office in Fleming House, Tryst Road, Cumbernauld.

People and organisations that made representations on the finalised draft plan have been sent letters to inform them of this latest stage in its approval.

No further representations will be accepted on the local plan.

but anyone with issues relating to the process of developing the plan or legal issues can raise them with the Scottish Government, Built Environment, Victoria Quay, Leith EH6 6QQ.

The Finalised Draft North Lanarkshire Local Plan sets the policies for development in the area and provides a framework to determine planning applications. It aims to ensure that developments are created in the right places and they are of the correct standards and meet local needs.
