Deatiled plans have been submitted for the £20m expansion of a Glasgow shopping centre.

The application for Silverburn mall follows a period of consultation with local stakeholders, community and existing tenants and includes shops, restaurants, a cinema and bingo hall.

Consultation after outline permission was gained resulted in the plans being changed to include a larger catering offer and enhanced landscaping backing on to the Civic Realm is also a new addition following feedback from the local community.

It is hoped that the application will be approved in the autumn with work commencing in early 2013. The launch is expected to be mid-2014 with the cinema opening a few months later.

Silverburn is owned by Hammerson and its partner CPPIB.

It is expected that up to 350 permanent retail and leisure jobs will be created. Hammerson has committed to partner with local training providers to offer pre-employment training. More than 2,000 people are currently employed at Silverburn with 70% of staff from southwest Glasgow.

An exhibition showcasing the final application will be available to view at Silverburn over the coming weeks.
