Princess Royal Trust For Carers Named SBF Official Charity For A Second Year

The Scottish Building Federation (SBF) has confirmed The Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Scotland as its official charity for the second year running.

Recently re-elected SBF President Robbie Cooke presented The Trust’s Corporate Fundraising Manager for Scotland, Trish Brown, with a cheque for £1,600.

The money was raised at SBF’s annual Gala Evening, held in St. Andrews on Friday the 30th March. The presentation took place at SBF’s headquarters in Edinburgh.

The Princess Royal Trust for Carers was created on the initiative of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal in 1991. Through a network of Carers’ Centres and young carers’ services, the organisation supports more than 4,000 young carers in Scotland, as well as tens of thousands of adult carers.

The Princess Royal Trust for Carers has recently merged with Crossroads Care to form a new charity called Carers Trust, which works to improve support, services and recognition for anyone living with the challenges of caring, unpaid, for a family member or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or addiction problems. In Scotland, the organisation has kept the name The Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Scotland.

In the course of 2011, SBF donated various monies raised throughout the year to The Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Scotland to support the range of services it provides for young carers to help them cope with their caring role. Naming The Trust as its official charity for a second consecutive year, SBF has made a commitment to donate the proceeds from other fundraising activities to the charity in the course of 2012.

Commenting on behalf of The Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Scotland, Trish Brown, Corporate Fundraising Manager for Scotland, said: "Following the successful partnership we enjoyed during 2011, I’m delighted that the Scottish Building Federation has decided to choose The Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Scotland to be its official charity for a second year. The funds so generously donated by the SBF will directly benefit the young carers we support in Scotland."

SBF President Robbie Cooke commented: "It’s great to be able to renew the great relationship we’ve enjoyed with The Princess Royal Trust for Carers in Scotland for a second year. Seeing what they do more closely over the past year has re-confirmed to me how crucial their support is to Scotland’s young carers. Hopefully we can enjoy another fruitful year of fundraising to help The Trust to continue the fantastic work they do."
