Robertson, the infrastructure, support services and construction group, have begun work on the construction of seven luxury new homes, located in one of Edinburgh’s most desirable neighbourhoods. The project is being delivered for the private developer Strawberry Scotland.
Following the completion of phase one which saw three homes being built at Woodhall Mill Brae last year, Robertson have been contracted by Strawberry Scotland to complete phase two which will be a mix of semi-detached and terraced houses. Each has a unique design that is in keeping with the traditional architecture of Juniper Green Village, but which also reflect a more modern style.
The sloping site has dictated the design of the houses which all have concrete walls on the first floor to retain the soil at the rear of the development. The first and second floor will be constructed from timber frame and the external specification is a combination of render and timber cladding.
Woodhall Mill Brae is one of the first new developments in Scotland to be assessed under the new, stricter planning regulations meaning they meet the very latest energy-efficiency legislation. This means that they will be cost-effective to heat and run - allowing home owners to reduce their environmental footprint and household bills.
The homes, valued at around £450,000, are due to be complete in December 2012.
Regional Operations Director of Robertson Bob Gray said: "It’s fantastic to see the construction of this new development getting under way and we’re looking forward to seeing it take shape over the coming months. The properties are being built to a higher environmental standard and once complete will be a stunning development in a very sought after location."
Robertson recently completed 18 luxury homes in two of the most desirable areas of the city. They built eight new builds and three conversions for New Age Developers Ltd at Polwarth Terrace and a further seven apartments and three single garages for Playfair New Town Ltd at Dublin Meuse which is just off Dundas Street in the iconic New Town.
