Power companies and organisations with a key role to play will today discuss how to identify and help those who struggle to pay their heating bills the most.

The 'Making the Links' seminar, organised by Consumer Focus Scotland will bring together local authorities, health boards and consumer groups to identify vulnerable customer groups and those most in need of help.

The seminar is a direct result of the Government, Industry and consumer groups summit meeting in November on energy prices and supporting Scottish customers.

Addressing the event, Alex Neil, Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure and Capital Investment announced a further £2 million Scottish Government funding for the Universal Home Insulation Scheme and the boiler scrappage programme.

Mr Neil said:"Scotland is an energy rich nation and no-one should have to choose between heating and eating. That is why the Scottish Government is continuing to do all we can to tackle rising energy prices and help customers struggling with their energy bills."
