Kier Makes New Appointment

The board of directors of Kier Group plc has announced the appointment of Amanda Mellor as a non-executive director of the Company with effect from today, 1 December 2011.

Amanda Mellor is currently the Group Secretary and Head of Corporate Governance of Marks and Spencer Group plc, having previously been Head of Investor Relations at Marks and Spencer and Director of Corporate Relations at Arcadia Group plc.

Amanda will be a member of the Company's Audit, Remuneration and Nomination Committees and is considered by the board of directors of the Company to be independent.

Kier Group Chairman Phil White commented on the appointment: "I am delighted that Amanda is joining us as a member of the Board, as I believe that her wide range of skills and experience will complement those of our other directors. I very much look forward to working with Amanda."
