Cairn Launches Land and New Homes Department

Glasgow-based Cairn Estate and Letting Agency has launched a land and new homes department with Elderview, a £15 million joint venture with CCG Homes and Elderpark Housing Association.

A development of 49 homes comprising a selection of one and two bedroom flats and two, three and four bedroom terraced villas and townhouses set in a contemporary development in the heart of Govan, Elderview is located directly adjacent to Elder Park on the former site of St Anthony’s school.

Stephen Simpson, the recently appointed head of Cairn’s land and new homes department, said: “Elderview offers first time buyers looking to make that first step onto the first rung of the housing ladder an exceptional standard of living.

“Located just a short distance from Govan’s excellent shopping and transport facilities, if you want a special place to call your home and need a location convenient for the city and the transport network, Elderview is the perfect setting, offering you a whole new standard of living in an up and coming area undergoing significant regeneration, helped further by the recent opening of the new M74 extension.”

Of Cairn’s diversification into the land and new homes market, Simpson, who brings more than 20 years experience in Scotland’s property sector to Cairn, including periods at Slater Hogg, Hamptons International and Cala Finance, said: “I believe a distinguishing feature of Cairn is that, rather than a corporate orientation, we provide a personal approach to property, bolstered with in-depth knowledge and experience about the dynamics of the market, particularly new build properties throughout central Scotland.

“As a team we have a real passion for property and are determined to develop the company further throughout the year ahead. My in-depth experience in the new homes and residential investment markets have given me an extensive contact base throughout Scotland and provided me with an ability to provide a range of advice to the land and new homes markets not readily available elsewhere.

“Whilst many of the corporate players have already pulled out of the land and new homes market sectors, we are now well-positioned to provide a management standard of service and are ready and able to offer a range of advice to housebuilders and developers throughout the country on such vital matters as pricing, sales and marketing strategies.”

Elderview comprises 14 two, three and four bedroom terraced villas and townhouses and 35 one and two bedroom flats on a site facing onto Elder Park. Work has already started on site and is scheduled for completion by the turn of the year.

Prices for homes at Elderview range from £69,000 for a one bedroom flat up to around £140,000 for a four bedroom townhouse. There are special incentives on offer for specific buyers with three separate purchasing routes: New Supply Shared Equity Schemes with CCG Homes, New Supply Shared Equity Scheme with Elderpark Housing Association and Priority Purchase Scheme.
