The Aberdeen city Development Management Sub-committee has approved plans for a major extension of the Douglas Hotel in the city centre.
The building, on the junction of Market Street and Ship Row, will include 52 additional hotel rooms, a pool, gym, underground parking, conference suites, offices and retail units.
The 11-storey podium with a tower will contain the new main entrance to the hotel allowing access to the additional facilities and the existing building.
There will also be a pedestrian entrance with escalators and lifts to connect to the two-and-a-half floors of retail space.
Convener of the Development Management Sub-committee Kate Dean said: "There were many positive comments about this development at committee.
"The extension will regenerate this semi-derelict site, have significant environmental benefits and improve access in the area."
