Glasgow’s residential property letting market has got the year off to a flying start if the record-breaking number of properties let by Cairn Estate and Letting Agency are anything to go by. That’s because Cairn has more than quadrupled the number of properties it let this January than it let a year ago.
Although activity in the residential property market is generally expected to be comparatively subdued in January, Cairn brought around 70 new properties to the market in January alone, of which it let 22, which compares to the five properties let by the firm in January 2010.
Susan Collins, head of lettings at Cairn, said: “We’ve seen demand for rental properties rise progressively throughout the year as many first time buyers encounter difficulties securing a mortgage and have opted to rent a property instead.
“This remarkable rise in activity, year on year, augurs well for the prospects for Glasgow’s residential lettings sector, with the properties we’ve let in January alone ranging from two bedroom properties in Dennistoun, Shawlands, Glasgow’s west end and city centre, Paisley and Barrhead up to a penthouse apartment overlooking the Clyde at Glasgow Harbour.”
Glasgow-based Cairn is much more than ‘just an estate agent’. In fact it is the only agent that sells investment properties, lets flats, penthouses, homes or student flats, adds value by undertaking repair works, has a database of clients seeking access to buy to lets and property portfolios and sources properties for clients, whether homes or student flats.
