Budget cuts will hit affordable housing supply, according to a housing and homelessness charity.

In response to the Scottish Budget, Graeme Brown, director of Shelter Scotland, said: “Despite the smoke and mirrors presentation of this budget, it is clear that investment in housing supply is the biggest loser - amounting to 35%.

“This figure is based on today’s cuts of around 19%, coupled with £120million already taken out of this year," he continued,“This will be greeted with dismay by people across Scotland who are in desperate need of decent quality, affordable housing."

“At a time when more people are going to be in need of affordable housing, to cut investment and still keep major capital projects such as the Forth Replacement Crossing shows that this Scottish Government has its priorities all wrong,” he concluded.
