The Transport Scotland scheme will be undertaken by Barr Ltd, and will benefit Mauchline village with approximately one mile of upgraded road surface, associated drainage works, improved landscaping and parking.
Alex Joannides, Transport Scotland’s Project Manger said: “We are pleased to announce the award of this contract to Barr Ltd for improvements on the A76 at Mauchline Village. This key route between Kilmarnock and Dumfries is benefitting from a number of improvement works to allow the route to remain in good condition for years to come.

“This busy route through Mauchline is used by 10,000 motorists each day and we are confident that road users will see and feel the benefits once these works are complete.”
The works, which are to scheduled to start during the quieter summer holiday period, are anticipated to last just under three months and are being managed by Amey on Transport Scotland’s behalf.
The scheme will result in an improved road construction through Mauchline, reducing both noise pollution from traffic and disruptions caused by frequent road maintenance. The works complement similar improvements currently being undertaken at New Cumnock, to the south of Mauchline, as part of an upgrade programme on the A76.
