The UK's first purpose-built bungee jump platform has been given the green light.

The scheme to be constructed under the Garry Bridge, north of Pitlochry in highland Perthshire, has been approved by Perth and Kinross Council.

Thrill seekers will be able to take the 40m jump off the bridge with the aid of an elastic rope which will pull them back before they reach the water.


Conditions imposed include platform removal and bridge restoration if the venture is not successful, no jumps before 10am and only three jumps a month after dark.

Murray Trail, from the company Highland Fling, told BBC Scotland: "Obviously the area is incredibly beautiful. That's one of the reasons we chose the site.

"We know the restrictions and rules and laws that we need to abide by, and we'll certainly be doing that."

Adventure tourism is worth around £120m a year to Scotland's economy.
