Kier Scotland has completed the construction of the largest Sainsbury’s in Scotland.
The store in Braehead, near Glasgow, opened yesterday – just five months after building work began.
At nearly 70,000sq ft, the new single-storey store will be almost 10,000sq ft bigger than Scotland’s next largest Sainsbury’s, and will provide 150 new jobs for the area, boosting both the Glaswegian and the wider Scottish economy.
The new store will offer shoppers a range of products and includes meat and fish counters, a delicatessen and a bakery. Almost 30,000sq ft will be dedicated to Tu clothing, homeware and electricals and new ranges including Different by Design will also be available.
Kevin Cunningham, store manager, said: 'To be opening the biggest Sainsbury’s in Scotland is a real honour and I’m sure that customers are going to like the breadth of choice available. We’re particularly proud to be creating new jobs for local people during a tough economic climate."
