Orkney Islands Council is reminding people to have their say in the first stage of the review of Orkney’s Local Plan.

The closing date for comments on Phase 1 of the review, the Development Plan Scheme, is August 31 at 5pm.

This is also the deadline for land owners to come forward with details of land that they would like to be assessed as potential sites for development, including brownfield sites.


Susan Shearer, Senior Planner in the Development Planning and Regeneration Team said: "We have had a number of very successful consultation events during this phase of the review. Our stands at the West Mainland Show and the County Show were very popular and generated some great feedback and debate on planning issues for the County.

"The closing date is fast approaching, so anyone who still wants to get involved needs to write in or email us as soon as possible. Remember it’s your Islands and your Plan."
