The eastbound on-slip to the M8 at Junction 3 in Livingston will be closed from 20:30 to 06:00 on Monday 9 November 2026 while Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, undertakes painting inspection works on two bridges over the motorway.
A signed diversion will direct drivers seeking to join the M8 eastbound at Junction 3 via the A89 from Dechmont Roundabout to Newbridge Roundabout, then the M9 southbound to rejoin the M8 at Junction 2. Journeys are expected to be extended by around ten minutes and 0.8 miles.
Single-lane closures will also be in place on the M8 eastbound on the night of 9 November, and on the M8 westbound on the night of 10 November.
David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: "We need to close lanes below bridges where inspection work is taking place to ensure the safety of both road users and our workforce. "We'll do this overnight to minimise disruption, however we understand this may still cause inconvenience for some road users. We thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding."
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
