Acting on behalf of YWCA Scotland, J&E Shepherd Chartered Surveyors has secured a letting for a short term nine month basis of Lochend Centre, South Edinburgh, for an undisclosed sum.
With Port of Leith Housing Association already identified by the landlord as the tenant, Shepherd was commissioned to secure the best possible terms for the tenant to ensure that a number of important community services continued to use the property which would have been lost if terms had not been secured with the tenants.
Niall Gunn, a partner in Shepherd's commercial department in Edinburgh, said: "The whole process took less than a month to conclude, demonstrating both the willingness of the YWCA to offer competitive terms to the tenants as part of the deal, a community service not being lost as a result, and Shepherd’s ability to respond quickly to client specific requirements."
Kirsten Verth, YWCA Scotland Chairperson, said: "Having run a service in Lochend for over 80 years, YWCA Scotland was keen to see the premises in Lochend retained as a local community resource. Thanks to J & E Shepherd professional service, we were able to ensure a smooth and speedy transition."
