RD Health has been selected as the principal supply chain partner for NHS Ayrshire & Arran to develop a new £100m hospital and proposed leisure centre at the Ayrshire Central Hospital site in Irvine.
RD Health is a consortium formed exclusively to work in partnership with the NHS in Scotland as part of Frameworks Scotland, a new flexible partnering approach to the procurement of publicly funded construction work.
Through its two principal members, Dawn Construction Group and Robertson Construction Group, RD Health has extensive links with the NHS in Scotland and is able to demonstrate considerable expertise in the design, construction and maintenance of both acute and primary care NHS developments throughout the Scottish healthcare estate.
Dawn Construction has been selected as the principal supply chain member for this particular project and with RD Health will work with NHS Ayrshire & Arran and the design team to initially develop the outline business case for the new North Ayrshire Community Hospital, before continuing on to full business case and ultimately into the construction phase.
The new facility will help NHS Ayrshire & Arran with its long-term goal of shifting the balance of care from acute hospitals into more community based facilities. It will cater to a wide range of needs.
Ray Eve, Managing Director for Dawn Construction Ltd, said: "We are very excited at the prospect of working closely with NHS Ayrshire & Arran and our project partners on a project that will provide a fantastic new hospital for North Ayrshire. The majority of buildings on the current Ayrshire Central Hospital site are ageing and in poor physical condition.
"We look forward to working closely with our client NHS Ayrshire & Arran to develop the new Community Hospital for North Ayrshire which will thoroughly modernise and improve the provision of healthcare services for the local population."
Dawn Construction and Robertson Construction Group have significant independent experience in delivering healthcare projects throughout Scotland and north-east England including the development of Crosshouse Hospital in Ayrshire, Shawfair Park Hospital in Edinburgh, Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital, Gartnavel Royal Hospital in Glasgow, St George's Park Hospital, Morpeth and the Aberdeen Dental Centre.
The RD Health consortium - made up of Dawn Construction Group and Robertson Construction Group - is also presently collaborating on a project to build a new £100m Emergency Care Centre at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
