In addition to a dinner followed by dancing there was also a sale of art by local artists that had donated their work to the hospice which raised £1,000 out of the £5,000.

Over the last year HLM has raised £11,000 for the hospice, which is located beside the River Clyde in Glasgow city centre, through the ball and other fundraising activities.

HLM regional director, Lorraine Robertson, said: "The work that the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice does is close to all our hearts and it is a tribute to the staff and clients who supported the event that so much was raised on its behalf. And it is good to be able to turn a fun event into something with such a worthwhile outcome."
