Stirling Provost Fergus Wood has officially opened the first phase of a new Rural Stirling Housing Association development of 22 homes for rent at the old Tannochbrae Chalet Park site in Callander.
The Provost commended the important work of the Association in providing housing opportunities to enable local young people in particular to remain in their rural communities.
He also welcomed the additional funding from the Scottish Government that had made possible the acquisition of 8 extra homes from Bellway.
These are in addition to the 14 homes that were already being constructed on the site for the Association by Bellway and which will complete at the end of June this year.
Association Chairperson Owen McKee commented on the speedy and effective response by all of the agencies and personnel involved to ensure that the opportunity of the new funding was taken.
In particular he praised the work of Association and Bellway staff that had ensured that the eight homes were completed, finance put in place and homes let before the end of March On 28th March deadline.
