Interest In The Housing Market Picks Up For Stewart Milne Homes

Housebuilder Stewart Milne Homes has seen an upturn in interest in their quality homes since the turn of the year, indicating strongly that the new build market is picking up again.

With a marked increase in visitors at some of their key developments, the firm is witnessing first-hand the findings of surveys which indicate that Scotland remains the best performing part of the UK in the housing market.

Figures from developments within the Stewart Milne Homes Scottish portfolio indicate that in the month of February there was a week on week increase in visitor levels with a rise of 20% over the whole month compared with February 2008. In addition, North East Scotland in particular has seen visitor levels to showhomes up by 110% in the most recent four week period.

Speaking about the rise in visitor numbers, John Slater, Group Managing Director - Homes, commented: "With the Scottish housing market continuing to outperform the rest of the UK people are clearly keen to move. What we can do is help them to make it a reality.

"We understand what customers are looking for and are able to offer practical and affordable deals to help people get onto and up the property ladder. As new homes continue to be in demand and many people recognise that property is always a sound investment, it is the reliability, quality and strength of the Stewart Milne Homes offering that gives us the edge."

Research by property website, Rightmove, confirms that around 66% of people think now is a good time to get a property, with 24% believing the Scottish market is performing better than the rest of the UK.
