Free Health And Safety Advice For Construction Contractors In Renfrewshire

On Wednesday, an HSE-organised event in Paisley will give construction contractors the opportunity to learn how to prevent deaths and accidents on sites in the Renfrewshire area.

Tickets for this event are still available and can be obtained from HSE in Glasgow.

The Construction Safety and Health Awareness Day is run by industry, for industry, in partnership with Renfrewshire Council, as part of the UK-wide Working Well Together campaign.

The aim is not only to raise awareness of key health and safety issues facing individual trades within the construction industry, but to give practical advice on how to avoid risks on construction sites.

During a series of practical demonstrations, those attending will learn about working at height, refurbishment, occupational health, sensible risk management and transport and delivery.

HSE Construction Inspector Gerard McCulloch said: "Next week's event is aimed at local building contractors who carry out construction work in the Renfrewshire area, often on behalf of the council.

"We are holding this free event to highlight the key areas where local contractors can make a difference on site."

Speakers from the HSE Construction Division; Construction Skills and the construction industry will deliver short, to the point sessions.

"With the recent introduction of new penalties for failure to comply with health and safety legislation, company bosses who care about the health and safety of their employees cannot afford to miss events like this."

McCulloch warned construction firms in the Greater Glasgow area that he and other HSE Inspectors will be out in force next month, visiting construction sites to ensure proper health and safety standards are being met.
