Inverclyde Council is offering extra help for people struggling to heat their homes.

The Safe, Sustainable Communities Committee have agreed to provide cash to households who don’t qualify for the Scottish Government’s National Central Heating Programme in 2009/10.

Convener Councillor Robert Moran said: "Inverclyde Council is committed to helping those most in need in our communities and we recognise the fact that there are still households either without central heating or with outdated, inefficient systems which push energy bills even higher as people try to heat their homes.

"The installation of an energy efficient heating system will make a contribution towards eradicating Fuel Poverty in Inverclyde"

Grants for those homes affected will be delivered through the council’s partners, Inverclyde Care & Repair (Tel 01475 787975) and each application will be considered on a case-by case basis.

To further assist Inverclyde householders, Inverclyde Council and SOLAS Insulation Ltd are working in partnership with the Scottish Government to install central heating systems to homeowners eligible for the Central Heating Programme who are deemed to be in high priority.
